Jamb 2019 Reprinting has been shifted See new Date

Earlier on, we received a report from Jamb stating that the earlier date that was once rumoured to hold March 2nd was not confirmed by the board and directives of the Joint Admission and Matriculation  board, and so therefore the proposed reprinting has  been shifted to a date not yet confirmed.
Jamb 2019 reprinting shifted

Dr.  Fabian Benjamin, the Spokesman of the Joint Admission and Matriculation board, speaking told our news men that it is not possible for students to reprint their Jamb 2019 Examination Slip for an examination whose date has not even been decided.

So therefore it's possible that the date that was earlier declared wasn't direct From Jamb or was not officially confirmed.

When is the reprinting shifted to and when is the main exam?

No date has been fixed for Jamb 2019, we urge every jambites to ignore whatsoever date has been announced as Jamb officials have not fix any date either for the Mock, reprinting or Jamb main exam after the Election that was postponed sometimes back.

He added that , it is not possible to reprint your slip for an exam that has not been fixed.

But he gave candidates and stakeholders his words that they will soon make an official declaration of the new date, for the Exam reprinting and Mop - Up.

Conclusion

All these recent Changes in Jamb 2019 Exam is indirectly for the benefit's of Jambites,  We urge every students to utilize this opportunity to prepare well.  Don't let the changes stop your preparation.

What is easy to see, is easy to miss.

For behold, Jamb will come one day Like a thief in the night.

Refuse to be among the students that would be overwhelmed with failure.

Prepare as if the exam is tomorrow.

Let's keep you updated. Subscribe below.

Jamb Chemistry Tutorial: What Jamb Sets from Periodic Table

As a serious Jamb students who wants to excel, you should not only base your study on textbooks,
all thanks to our Jamb online tutorial Class. Today we would be having a Jamb Chemistry Tutorial and the focus is on the Periodic Table. From this, you will know what to expect in jamb chemistry

jamb chemistry tutorial periodic table

As an old Jamb Chemistry student, i know this and i don't need anyone to tell me this, Jamb sets questions from chemistry in periodic table always.

So i prepared this article to also prepare you for Jamb chemistry and i am going to show you the areas to focus on.

I AM ALWAYS GOOD AT WHAT I DO, SO I TRUST YOU WILL ENJOY THIS TUTORIAL

What Jamb Sets in Chemistry: Periodic Table- (Jamb Chemistry Tutorial)

Alright let me let the cat out of the bag.

  PERIODICITY OF ELEMENTS/PERIODIC TRENDS
Yes, you are very likely to get questions from periodic table, and the question will always come out from this angle.

Example from previous Past Question:

  • Which of the these physical Properties decreases across the period
              (A) Electronagativity
              (B) Ionization energy
             (C) Atomic radius
             (D) Electron Affinity
         The correct answer is C

  • Which of the following noble gases has the greatest Ionization Energy

              (A) Radon
              (B) Argon
             (C)Xenon
             (D) Helium
         The correct answer is D

  • Amongst these 'group one' elements, which has the highest Ionization energy

              (A) Rubidium (37)
              (B) Cesium (55)
             (C)Potassuim (19)
             (D) Soduim (11)
             (E) Lithuim (3)
         The correct answer is E

  • In these arrangements, which of these, was arranged in order of their Ionization Energy

              (A) Al, Si, P, S
              (B) Si, Al, P, S
             (C) S, P, Si, Al
             (D) P, Si, S, Al

         The correct answer is A
  • Which of these statements is true according to the periodic table

              (A) The non metallic properties of an element tends to decrease across each periods
              (B) Elements in the same group have the same number of electron shells
(C)The valence electrons of the element increase progressively across the period
(D)Elements in the same period have the same number of Valence Electrons

         The correct answer is C

Now that you know these, let me give you a summary in case you come across these in your exams

Periodic Trends in Chemistry - (Jamb Chemistry Tutorial)

  • ATOMIC RADIUS: This is simply know as half of the distance between the nucleus of two atoms, that are touching each others
  • ELECTRONEGATIVITY:  This measure the ability of an atom to form chemical bonds
  • IONIZATION ENERGY : The total amount of energy required to remove an electron from the valence shell of an atom in  gaseous state
  • ELECTRON AFFINITY: The ability for an atom to accept an electron

You will likely come across a question in Jamb Chemistry asking you anything from the above.
Pertaining to the periodic trends, the periodicity of these properties follow a trend, as you move across the period of a periodic table or down the group.

MOVING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT
what jamb sets in chemistry - periodic table

  • ELECTRONAGATIVITY INCREASES

Electronegativity increases as you move across the periodic table from left to right. This happens due to a high charge on the nucleus, it therefore causes the electron bonding pairs to be very attracted to atoms placed further right on the periodic table. Fluorine is the most electronegative element.

  • IONIZATION ENERGY INCREASES

⇒ Moving left to right within a period or upward within a group, the first ionization energy generally increases

  • ATOMIC RADIUS DECREASES

    MOVING FROM TOP TO BOTTOM

  • IONIZATION ENERGY DECREASES
  • ELECTRONAGATIVITY DECREASES
  • ATOMIC RADIUS INCREASES

CONCLUSION:

Now, you should start reading on Periodicity of elements. i have given you a sample of where questions come from.

Other areas to study on Periodic Table:

  • Modern Periodic Law
  • Properties of an Elements
  • Elements arrangements in Various groups and Periods.
Bonus:

If you want to further excel in Jamb chemistry, it's good that you have a picture of the Periodic table in your head.
It will enable you to be able to understand the arrangements of elements in groups and periods.

You need the full Knowledge of the periodic table.

So now that you know what Jamb sets in chemistry from periodic table, why waste your time, start reading

Indeed one thing is certain, if Chemistry is among your Jamb combination; then your problems are solved because we are here to lift you up like never before.

AIM FOR STUDENTS: To make all Jamb Chemistry Student score at least 80 in Jamb Chemistry.

OBJECTIVE: First of all let me clear something about Jamb, in Jamb when it comes to science subjects the calculations that you get is basic and not so deep. In other words, for you to score high in Jamb chemistry then your objective is to understand basic terms and definitions in Chemistry.

N.B :  SUBSCRIBE OR COME BACK HERE ALWAYS FOR MORE OF OUR CHEMISTRY TUTORIALS, WE FOCUS ON JAMB SYLLABUS AND OUR TUTORIAL IS ONLY BASED ON WHAT YOU WILL SEE IN JAMB

PART 1 - DEFINITIONS AND TERMS IN CHEMISTRY – JAMB CHEMISTRY TUTORIAL

Topics we defined in this section

  • Elements
  • Compounds
  • Separation techniques
  • Full definitions available in Classroom

 ELEMENTS

As a Jamb based Chemistry Student there are some things you must be well used to e.g Elements.

When looking at the term element in Jamb chemistry, it’s a very important term that all chemistry students should and most know.

No one is going to ask you for the Definition of Element in Jamb, but the main reason for knowing this is because one thing leads to another. Under elements we have other terms that we will discuss.

Throughout your Jamb chemistry series you will always have to deal with Elements.
So what is an Element?

A more concise definition is; an element is a chemical substance that cannot be split or further divided into any simpler substances by a mare chemical reaction.

Very Simple as that .

Likewise, you don’t have to cram that, just have it at the back of your Mind.

MORE FACTS TO KNOW ABOUT ELEMENTS

Once in a while the least complex definitions are the most hard to explain.
Elements structure the basic segments of what makes matter and materials.

Here we will portray the rule pertaining to Element and what makes them special.

To put it shortly, matter is a form of an element; When talking about element we explain it as a matter/material.

As a chemistry student you should be able to understand things like, how does a material appear?

What colour does it have? What shape? What Size? Is it Cold or Hot? Dull or Sharp?  Smooth or Rough?

To comprehend what an element is in Chemistry science.  You should be able to evaluate if it is pure or not, if it is reactive or not, will it liquefy or bubble.

All elements in chemistry must contain the following:

·        * Proton
·    *     Nucleus
·    *     & Electron

What is a Proton ?

proton is a subatomic particle that exists in the nucleus of all atoms. The particle always have a positive electrical charge, which is directly equal and opposite to that of the electron. ... In the atoms of any elemnt in particular, the number of protons you will find in the nuclei is always the same.

What is a Nucleaus ?

In chemistry, a nucleus is the centre of an atom that is positively charged.

In other words the centre of all Element/atom must have a Nucleus But this nucleus consisting of protons and neutrons.

Most times the nucleus is referred to as "atomic nucleus". ... Nearly all the mass of an atom is contained in the nucleus.

“For example if you’re asked in Jamb chemistry where the weight of an atom is based , always remember weight which is the same as mass is based on the nucleus of that atom.

What is an Electron?

Electrons are the smallest particles that build up an electron, and they are negatively charged.
When dealing with the periodic table you will come across so many elements.
“Without elements, a periodic table would be empty”
This is while it’s necessary to know much about Elements.

Facts about Chemical Elements in Jamb Chemistry:

  1. Elements consists of atoms– Most times these atoms may or may not be joined together to form a molecule.
  2. Elements  exists  as molecules (such as nitrogen) For example many common gases exist as diatomic molecules e.g. oxygen (O2), hydrogen (H2), and nitrogen (N2).

or as atoms  the noble bases neon (Ne), argon (Ar), krypton (Kr), xeon (Xe) and radon (Rn).

3.    Elements can never be split or further divided into simpler forms either by a physical or chemical reaction – however some larger elements can break-down spontaneously due to being radioactive.

4.    The periodic table are all made up of elements

COMPOUNDS

This is an another interesting part of chemistry. From the beginning of Chemistry till the end, we will always deal with compounds.

Elements combine to form Compound.

Compounds exists in two categories

  • Ionic Compounds and
  •  Covalent compounds
IONIC COMPOUNDS IN CHEMISTRY

When a Metal and a Non metal react they will form an ionic compound. Ionic compound are composed of Positive and Negative Ions, formed by adding or subtracting electrons from Neutral atoms and molecules.

Properties of Ionic Compounds

  • It has Positive and Negative Ions
  • They are also solids
  • They always have High Melting and Boiling Points
  • Their Particles always have strong force of attraction between them
  • When in water they separate into Charged Particles and give a solution that conducts electricity
COVALENT COMPOUNDS IN CHEMISTRY

In covalent compounds Non-metals react to form them. They exist as neutral Molecules.

N.B: The shorthand notation for any given compound describes the number of atoms contained in that element, it is indicated by a subscript written after the symbol for the element. By convention, no subscript is written when a molecule contains only one atom of an element. Thus, water is H2O and carbon dioxide is CO2.

SEPARATION TECHNIQUES IN CHEMISTRY

We have seen questions from many year under separation techniques so Let us study the various separation techniques in Jamb Chemistry.

MISCONCEPTIONS TO KNOW ABOUT SEPARATION TECHNIQUES

It is important to know these because Jamb May test your Knowledge.

These are the areas Jamb Chemistry students mis interpret.

And Jamb sets question on these most years.

  •  I know you think that that substances vanish when they are dissolved. Is that true? No! – Evaporation proves that this isn't true.

  • I know you think The air is empty. Well it is not true according to distillation

  • Most students think Evaporation and Boiling are the same thing. Please they are not
  • Filtrations cannot separate Solutions
  • A solution is not a Single Substance a Solution Is Combination of Different Substances

And many others
